A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Size of this restaurant can surprise you, extra big, but, as soon door open for service place full of customers. So reservation is needed. Mortadella with truffles, something outstanding, we took small portion and did it right, because even small size is big enough. Pasta are fresh. Dessert are homemade. Perfect spot for lunch or dinner. And please, dont hurry up for waiter, enjoy you meal."
"We have just eaten in this restaraunt and had two fantastic dishes and an amazing bottle of wine. The service was excellent and friendly and we had our meals served within 5 minutes of ordering. Highly recommended."
"Excellent place not to be missed. Not cheap depending on what you eat (was not clear with salumi and formaggi charging nearly 40 EUR for a plate - see photo) but I would definitely go back again. All food was prepared with attention and all the salumi were freshly cut."
"We came to try traditional dishes, and this restaurant was recommended by our host. Two of us shared four dishes. We ate well, in that we were able to sample the local specialty, and portion size was big. I enjoyed salamina da sugo, as it was the first time I tasted it. Other dishes we tried were fried fiori di zucca, cappellacci di zucca, and pollo arrosto. They were all ok - I do not foresee myself returning to order the same dishes. We didn't think the service was the best. Although we booked a table four days in advance, we were initially given the most uncomfortable table in the middle of the hall and the table wasn't even ready for us. The more annoying part was that there was a nicer table by the wall, next to our assigned table, and it was already set up for 2 people. We asked for that table instead. We had a small suitcase and a backpack. The staff initially refused to give us that table as it was 'reserved for someone else'. We insisted hard, and they agreed to give us that table, which we appreciated. A few minutes later an Italian couple, who must have reserved the table now assigned to us, arrived and was given the table in the middle of the hall. They did not seem to be too upset, fortunately. I wonder if the couple had asked for that specific table which we took... During our meal, the waiter was nice to give us additional plates to share the dishes between us, however, we were so rushed. At one point I was still scooping the last bit of the sauce from a plate when he hurriedly removed the plate. It was rather embarrassing... Clearly the waiter wanted us to leave asap so that he can close the lunch service for the day. There were still some 10 or so groups dining, we were not the last. I wish if I had made a better effort to learn Italian language, which should have helped us manoeuvre better."
"Service started off a bit rocky. Was trying to get a table for one and they kept pointing me to different people. Overall food was good. Green lasagna was a bit too cheesy but it was good!"
"When you visit Cusina e Butega in the heart of Ferrara, don’t miss the chance to try their exquisite Filetto di branzino in crosta di mandorle con verdure di stagione. This dish is a perfect blend of Mediterranean freshness and the refined craftsmanship of Italian cuisine. The branzino is expertly prepared, its tender fillet encased in a crisp almond crust. Each bite offers a delightful contrast of textures—crunchy on the outside, moist and delicate on the inside. Paired with a colorful assortment of seasonal vegetables, the dish is both visually appealing and naturally flavorful, adding a refreshing balance to the plate."
"Delicious. Affordable. You must try the zucca capellacci with butter and sage. Also had aged Parma ham and pork chop. Portions are large. We shared three courses plus vegetables between two people and it was plenty. Pork chop is delicious."
"Located in the city center, it is a reliable local food place with lots of choices. Reservation after 21 is recommended."
